"The Reem" series is back with a new episode today, the eighth one of the second season. It details the lead-up to Alistair's fight with Brock Lesnar on December 30, including training, PR duties, behind the scenes and more. What's really interesting is the look at Alistair's training, where he brought in some heavyweights such as former UFC fighter Todd Duffee, undefeated MMA fighter and highly accomplished NCAA Divison I wrestler Jared Rosholt. Check out the video below:

That Tatneft Cup kicked off their 2012 season on Saturday with the first installment of their 1/8 finals, featuring two fights each at 70kg, 80kg and 91kg+. Among the fights that took place was Artur Alimirzoev against Umyut Demirors at 70kg. Neither of these two fighters are known at all, and it's always nice to see a fight between two fighters you've never seen before. Alimirzoev ended up scoring a devastating knockout, with Demirors doing a slow motion faceplant. Chalk up another candidate for KO of the year? Check out the video:

The K-1 World Grand Prix will not happen for the first time since 1993 this year. Sometimes you have to make a sacrifice for the good of the sport and a promotion like K-1, and having this time to re-organize and re-group and kick off next year with FIKA is vital. This, of course, means that over the past week or so many of us who have been following K-1 for years were sorely missing the K-1 World Grand Prix. If you are like me, then go ahead and watch the Finals to the very first World Grand Prix, held in 1993. If you have the time, check out K-1's official YouTube channel that still features the 1993 - 1999 World Grand Prix events, which you should be studying for the holidays.

When Buakaw Por. Pramuk fights, the world watches. Thai Fight 2011 was no different. Buakaw made it all the way to the Thai Fight 2011 70kg Finals where he squared off with Frank Giorgi. On paper, this fight was all Buakaw, but if you don't know how this fight turns out we aren't about to spoil it for you. Go ahead and watch it below. If you want to catch the entire event, head on over to GFL.tv to watch it for the confusing price of $14.99.

Here at LiverKick we strive to bring you the best in news and results from the world of Kickboxing and the overlapping Muay Thai world, also taking a look at Mixed Martial Arts and the Martial Arts world as a whole when it fits our needs. One man transcends both space and time just as easily as he defies logic and reason, and that man is Bob Sapp. Bob Sapp is the NFL player-turned-professional wrestler-turned-Kickboxer-turned-MMA-fighter who found his way back to professional wrestling in Japan. Bob Sapp became such a huge name in Japan that he actually became a matchmaker for K-1 and had some political power within the company for a few years.

Sapp's Kickboxing style was a mess, with him fouling left and right but bullrushing his opponents and striking with reckless abandon, picking him up some high profile wins against opponents that should have easily handled him. The same can be said for MMA where his lack of skill and fight IQ led to him doing absolutely insane things, like a deadlift powerbomb against Big Nog that has no real place in MMA but helped make him even more famous. He then became a regular on the variety show circuit in Japan, making him a national hero of sorts and his fights became a necessity for promoters who wanted the big television networks to support them.

The year of 2011 has been an odd year for Sapp, and a really telling year where Sapp, who is actually very good with his money and has saved and invested most of his gigantic earnings, has been cashing in on the European circuit. The only problem for Sapp is that it seems like he has actually been training more and has been honing his skill, which for a fighter like Sapp means strange things. I have theorized that he is now thinking about what he is doing and it is causing him problems. Of course, his other problem is he does not like to get hit. He still wrestles in Japan, which seems to be his best fit, but in professional fighting it does not make sense anymore. Sapp is 0-3 in Kickboxing and with his latest fight today, he is 0-3 in MMA to close out 2011.

It is impossible not to respect Bob Sapp for carving out his place in the world and for being conservative with his money. While we understand what he is doing in Europe, it might be time to cut it out, Bob. This is from Dec. 16 in Croatia. Noc Gladijatora 6. MFC Heavyweight Championship vs. Maro Perak.

With the talk of a possible [fake] showdown between Jerome Le Banner and Mirko Cro Cop there is a reason why such a bout would be a big deal in Japan, even if it were simply professional wrestling. It would be a rematch, of sorts, from 1996 where the two younger men met in the K-1 ring. Both men would go on to be wildly successful in Japan and become gigantic stars. Cro Cop became one of the biggest names in PRIDE FC and JLB became a K-1 legend.

So while it is not official yet, the thought of both men in the ring together again, even if not real, is exciting and would be a great moment for fans across the world. So go ahead and check out their first fight.

Hardcore fight fans will always be able to keep the scene alive through their love and passion for fighting. The Kickboxing world is no different as there are a few fans who make incredible videos, and Jill is one of them, and easily the most prolific. This video highlights KRUSH fighter Ryuji Kajiwara, who fought last week and you should without a doubt check out his last fight in our videos section.

For now, though, enjoy this video.

Because we can never get enough fight videos here at LiverKick, we are bringing you yet another. This one comes from the Finals of the Challenger Muay Thai, a reality series serving as the ad-hoc second season of the Contender Muay Thai. Seeing as though most of us outside of asia did not have access to the entire show, it is nice to at least get to see some of the fights from the series, including the finals pitting the UK's Jordan Watson against Pidsanu Kunchat.

Semmy Schilt, the four time K-1 World Grand Prix Champion, sat down with FightStarTV to discuss what he's been up to lately and what he thinks of the new FIKA, along with a little discussion about himself in MMA. Semmy hasn't fought in almost a year, last losing to Peter Aerts in the 2010 K-1 World Grand Prix semi-finals. He says some pretty promising things about FIKA that are good to hear.  You can also read Dave Walsh's article from yesterday concerning Semmy here. Check out the video below.

You may not know who Tadas Jonkus or Giuseppe Patane are, but that doesn't matter here. They met in the ring this weekend in Trieste, Italy. A bit into the first round, the two met and started exchanging blows. Jonkus proceeded to knock Patane not just out, but out of the ring. Patane fell through the ropes and dropped out of the ring onto the floor below. Check the video out:

The internet is a marvelous place where international borders mean little like they used to. If something happened in Japan ten years ago, eagerly reading the results online and waiting for a few weeks before you could have someone send you a DVD (or even -- GASP -- VHS tape) of the event to check out for yourself was commonplace. Now there are ways to stream events live as they happen, and if they aren't available to be streamed, they are shared around the internet at the blink of an eye. That is magic, folks. As someone who has been ordering K-1 and Japanese MMA tapes since the mid-90's, it is mind-boggling how much better we have it now and how easy it is to follow your favorite athletes.

All of this is a lead-in to this; Inoki Genome Federation is Antonio Inoki's pro wrestling promotion in Japan. The catch is, Inoki has a good relationship with many professional fighters and he fancies himself one of the true pioneers of Mixed Martial Arts. This means his brand of pro wrestling is a lot different from when he promoted New Japan Pro Wrestling and more resembles the style that he attempted to introduce to New Japan that nearly ran the company into the ground; Shoot Style. It is the kind of action that blurs reality from fiction and is entertaining. Sit back and watch as your favorite K-1 and MMA fighters go toe-to-toe in pre-scripted drama that is pro wrestling. Also note that wow, Nagashima is big, one source has claimed he is as high as 90kg. That is 198 pounds. [source]

Let's be honest, after a year without K-1's usual Heavyweight tournament there has been a lack of the top Heavyweights in the world going head-to-head, but It's Showtime is looking to change that come January. What is possibly the last Kickboxing bout of both Badr Hari and Gokhan Saki should provide fireworks for fans across the world. It's Showtime went ahead and released a trailer for this upcoming clash of the titans and you can view it here.

Female fighting in Japan is something different entirely. It has a deeper meaning and has roots that go back many years, as the Japanese have always had a fascination with women in combat. It was evident in how popular Women's Pro Wrestling was in the 80's or how Women's MMA picked up in the 90's and is still creating great prospects, and the same can be said for Kickboxing. Erika Kamimura is young, really young, and she is already a beast. Her coming out party to the world was an exhibition bout against multi-time Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup Champion RENA where Erika absolutely brought it. They recently had a rematch where RENA narrowly escaped defeat, but regardless, Erika has arrived.

Watch this awesome highlight of her and decide for yourself. [source]

Hopefully if you weren't immersed in the world of Shoot Boxing before, you've caught up with the recent Shoot the Shooto show and are sold on Shoot Boxing. It is kind of a sport to itself, but still has its roots deep in the world of Kickboxing. Shoot Boxing is one of the most unique sub-sports imaginable, with Judo throws being a huge part of what makes Shoot Boxing special. In Muay Thai there are sweeps that can earn points, but in Shoot Boxing a full on Ippon is what they are looking for. To help celebrate this, our friend Jill has made a pretty awesome video highlighting the awesome art of the throw and can help explain why Judo has always been my favorite grappling art.
