Patrice Quarteron is that French kickboxer that you may or may not know who is notorious for his beef with Jerome Le Banner over the years. They don't like each other and Quarteron has called out Le Banner in the past, along with calling out Cheick Kongo in the center of the ring during a live event. He's 33 and barely fights these days, not having fought in 2010 and only fighting once in 2011, but he returned to the ring on Saturday against Frederic Sinistra in France. 31 of his 34 wins are by KO and like most of his wins, Quarteron put on a violent display with some vicious elbows. I wouldn't mind seeing him fight more. Check out the video.

Sometimes nice KOs come around in the world of Kickboxing and Muay Thai and I just have to post videos of them. On Saturday, March 24, Diesellek Topkingboxing, who's been around for a while took on Youssef Boughanem, also known as Youssef Kiatphet in Thailand. You may remember Youssef from when Buakaw completely messed up his arm with a kick back at the beginning of 2011. Youssef has been fighting in Thailand lately with mixed results and well, we'll let you find out how he did in this fight. There's a pretty spectacular high kick KO, so check it out, starting at 6:14 of the video.

Giorgio Petrosyan and Artur Kyshenko finally met in the ring today in Milan, Italy. They had never fought before despite both being in K-1 MAX. Petrosyan is the undisputed number one fighter in all of kickboxing. Kyshenko is top 5 at 70kg. Giorgio put on a masterful performance in this fight. This is what I would call vintage Giorgio Petrosyan. Check out the fight.

With the Glory World Series event coming up on this Friday, March 23 in Moscow, the usual lead up to a big event is taking place like open workouts, press conferences and the like. Sergei Kharitonov took this to a whole new level today in Moscow though. He did a "Rocky Balboa" style open workout in a Moscow sausage factory. That's one way to catch the media's attention. Check it out.

Buakaw and Yokkao Boxing are still hard at work building the new Banchamek Gym, which Buakaw will use as his new fight alias. The gym is coming along well and it's pretty amazing just how fast they've put it together. Buakaw took some time out to thanks Yokkao and all his fans for their support in this new video that Yokkao just put out. He even said it in English too, which is pretty cool.

In the shadows of yesterday's main event at Cro Cop Final Fight, Daniel Ghita met Sergei Lascenko for the second time in the co-main event of the evening. The first time they met was back in 2009 in the final of the K-1 World Grand Prix 2009 in Tokyo Qualifying GP. It was Ghita's coming out party, as he stopped Lascenko with low kicks in the first round. Fast forward to now and Lascenko is a much better fighter and in much better shape under the tutelage of Mike Passenier at Mike's Gym. Check out the video.

In the main event today at Cro Cop Final Fight, Mirko Cro Cop took on Ray Sefo. The fight was in front of 20 000 fans at the Zagreb Arena in Zagreb, Croatia. The two had never met in K-1 and now after so many years gone by, they finally met in the ring past their primes and up there in age.

Cro Cop Final Fight is two days away and yesterday the press conference was held in Zagreb. Today was the open workouts that featured Daniel Ghita and Igor Jurkovic ahead of their fights on Saturday. Mirko Cro Cop could not be present at the open workouts as he encountered some personal problems but he will be at the weigh in tomorrow. The video just consists of both fighters hitting mitts but it's always interesting to see fighters train. Jurkovic and Ghita both looked strong and poised for their fights at the Zagreb Arena on Saturday.

Just when you had given up hope of watching the recent KRUSH.16 event a shining beacon of hope comes through and two of the feature bouts from the event have made their way to the internet in all of their glory. We've heard the complaints about lesser competition, how these guys can do better, now it is time to watch the fights and decide. Yuta Kubo took on Charles Francois and Yoshihiro Sato vs. Fadi Merza. Enjoy.

SuperKombat had their first show of the year yesterday and in a surprising result, Catalin Morosanu won the four man tournament, beating Utley Meriana and Anderson "Braddock" Silva. I certainly didn't expect Morosanu to pull it off, and he deserves a lot of props. He looked better than he ever has before, but that's not exactly what this post is about. Anthony Pettis scored a stoppage with a high kick and punches on the ground tonight at UFC 144, but Morosanu also knocked his opponent, Utley Meriana, down with a high kick - except Meriana was completely out. Check out this impressive performance by Catalin Morosanu, capped off with a devastating high kick KO. If you don't have any patience, skip to 6:05 of the video.

"Vuisten Van Vuur" is coming up on February 26 in Den Bosch, Holland. It's a great card, especially for a Dutch show. Among the fights on the card are Golden Glory's own Robin van Roosmalen vs. Rachid Belaini which has the makings of a slugfest. Another great fight on the card is Harut Grigorian vs. Faldir Chahbari which could turn out to be a great back and forth combination fight. Hicham El Gaoui, our #3 ranked Light Heavyweight is also on the card, against Masoud Rahimi. Golden Glory TV released a video today with members of Golden Glory, including Robin van Roosmalen, talking about the upcoming event this Sunday. Check out the video below and the full fight card here.

You may have heard that Golden Glory's Nieky Holzken was in action over the weekend, and we were going to just give you the results, but, why do that when we could show you a video? That is really always the best way to go. Golden Glory Helmond ran an event this weekend which, by all means, was immense. For the full results, head over to here, but if you want to watch it, why just avert your eyes downwards or click Read More. [source]

French promotion Urban Boxing United have put together a great video with Andy Souwer where he talks about his career, life and his fight on May 19 in Marseilles, France. The fight will be under the Urban Boxing United banner against French fighter Johann Fauveau, Souwer's first time fighting a French fighter. It'll be at "Le Dome" where the capacity is up to 8 500 people. This video is really well done and gives a good look at Andy Souwer so check out the video titled "Looking For Andy."

This was one of Fraser's ideas before he left the blog, to post classic Muay Thai bouts. I stumbled on this particular trove of classics surfing one of China's viral video sites. It's a great way to familiarize yourself with better known fights from what's known as Muay Thai's "Golden Era," namely the 1980s and 90s.

The two biggest promoters of Muay Thai in Thailand are OneSongchai and Petyindee Promotions. Think Golden Boy and Top Rank, except they consistently make competitive matchups at the highest level and will co-promote. Scratch that. Don't think Golden Boy and Top Rank. While the two Thai promotions appear to have some history, they operate quite differently from the two marquee U.S. promotions.

The Best of OneSongchai is exactly what it sounds like: a compilation of the best fights put on by the promotion. The series is quite old, and I'm not sure how many volumes there are. Volume 1 is full of great matchups, starting off with Ramon Dekkers in his 1990 upset against Nampon Nongkeepahuyut.

Also in the video: Sangtiennoi Sor Rungrot vs Namkabuan Nongkeepahuyut, complete with all three people in the ring, including the referee, tumbling over the ropes in round four. That's at about 24 minutes into the video.

The bouts in this volume are fought under a slightly different ruleset from modern Muay Thai. The technique known as plowing, wherein a fighter catches an opponent's leg and pushes him across the ring, is now illegal. It can lead to instances like the one at 46:20 where Rainbow KOs himself by flying over his opponent's head with a high kick. I believe the maximum number of steps is now three.

The full lineup is as follows:

Nampon Nonkeepahuyut vs Ramon Dekkers;

Wangjannoi Sor Palangchai vs Cherry Sor Vanich, at 11 minutes;

Namkabuan Nongkeepahuyut vs Sangtiennoi Sor Rungrot, at 14:20;

Sakmongkon Sitchuchok vs Jongsanan Fairtex, at 28:30;

Den Muangsurin vs Rainbow Sor Pantalay, at 41:50;

and Pongsiri Por Ruamrudee vs Pirotnoi Sor Siamchai, at 48:20.

You can buy the volume on Amazon in VCD format (What is that?). The uploader for this video is simonjj.
