Our good friends at Phuket Top Team do some great work over in Phuket, running a hybrid Muay Thai and MMA camp out of Thailand and churning out some great prospects. One of their top fighters is without a doubt Cyrus Washington. Check out this video fresh from Thailand of Cyrus taking on K-1 legend Kaoklai. Yeah, Kaoklai, the guy that knocked Mighty Mo out with a flying head kick that looked like something out of a Bruce Lee film. Cyrus puts up an awesome fight, and if the rumors are true, Phuket Top Team is trying to put together Cyrus vs. Refi Zouhir in K-1 rules, which would be incredible.

Andy Souwer is one of the few elite kickboxers in the world that also sports a grappling background that he keeps sharp, which has made him a perfect training partner for MMA fighters looking to improve their stand up. There have been rumors of Souwer looking to enter the world of MMA (including our interview with him a few months ago that he confirmed that), with him having been training in MMA for over a year and a lot of his students at Team Souwer have been training in MMA as well. This interview with GnP.de talks about Souwer's stance on MMA as well as his thoughts on the It's Showtime Fast and Furious tournament and what he saw the problems with K-1 were. [source]

There is something to be said for all of the more mainstream attention that is coming to the Muay Thai world this year, and it is something that makes a lot of us a lot more happy. Any sort of kickfighting gaining notoriety and media attention only helps the sport of muay thai, and also helps the sport of Kickboxing as well. Check out this incredible promotional video for the Thailand Vs. Challenger Series 2011.

The MuayThai Premier League is set to kick off on September 2nd and they've recently released a well done teaser trailer to get the word out. The MPL's roster is already looking stacked and there's more names to be added. The promotion is looking great already without having held an event yet. If all goes well, it'll pit some of the world's best against eachother. Watch the trailer and hopefully you'll get as pumped as I am.
