Earlier today at Differ Ariake RISE held RISE 93, headlined by a 61kg matchup between 60kg champ Kosuke Komiyama and former 63kg champ Yuki. Also on the card was a matchup between Krush's Yukimitsu Takahashi and RISE #3 Lightweight Yuto Watanabe.

In the main event, Kosuke Komiyama was able to keep his distance and outpoint LiverKick #5 Lightweight Yuki en route to a 3rd round majority decision on scores of 30-28, 29-28 and 29-29. Yuki was unable to get inside and use his power while Komiyama exploited Yuki's weaknesses. This win is the biggest of Komiyama's career and could earn him a shot in a GLORY qualifying tournament next year, though I'm not so sure he'd want to move up to 65kg. Another intriguing matchup would be with Krush champion Hirotaka Urabe or SHIGERU, but he'll probably get an easier matchup as he is expected to fight again at RISE 94 on July 20th. Yuki was unable to bounce back from a one-sided loss to Masaaki Noiri, but put in a good effort here. He may not be a top 10 fighter for much longer due to his struggles against more technical fighters, but he'll continue to be a staple in the Lightweight division due to his power and heart.

In the co-main event, Krush veteran Yukimitsu Takahashi scored an upset just 16 seconds into the fight as he knocked out Yuto Watanabe with a head kick. Known for his flashy style, Takahashi had been more of a point fighter that put on entertaining brawls that rarely ended in finishes. However he picks up his biggest career win in impressive fashion, bouncing back from a loss to Shunsuke Oishi in a fight for the vacant J-Network title. Should he choose to fight for RISE again, I don't see why they wouldn't put him in a title match against Sun Hyun Lee or a #1 contender bout against Yuki. Watanabe had been on a tear lately, with the only blemishes on his record coming in a title fight against Yuki in which Yuki needed a huge comeback to win and against current 63kg champ Sun Hyun Lee, a fight that Watanabe lost in an extension round. This is a big step back for Watanabe, who expected a rematch with Lee if he had won this fight.

At 55kg, DEEP*KICK champ Seiya Rokukawa picked up a decision win over Masayosi Kunimoto. At Heavyweight, Hiromi Amada scored a decision over Kazuki Nojiri. At 60kg, 2012 RISING ROOKIES Cup winner Masanobu Goshu kept his undefeated record with a majority decision over KING. At 70kg, J-Network Super Welterweight champ Ichiro Morimoto knocked out Krush veteran Hareruya in the 1st round. At 55kg Hiroaki Mizuhara returned from a nearly year-long absence and was upset by Yu Kinjo, who scored a 2nd round knockdown and won a unanimous decision. At 63kg, Shohei Asahara snapped a 5-fight losing streak against 2012 RISING ROOKIES Cup winner Yuya Fujita. Finally, 2012 RISING ROOKIES Cup winners Yuta Murakoshi and Keisuke Niwa won their fights against Hikaru Fujikashi and Shunji Miyata, respectively.
