Penek Sitnumnoi and Sam-A Kaiyanghadaogym met on May 4 in what was basically a fight to decide who would win the Sportswriters of Thailand Boxer of the Year Award. The fight was also for the vacant Lumpinee Stadium Featherweight Title, which Sam-A was moving up in weight for. Sam-A was on an eleven fight undefeated streak prior to this fight, which is incredibly hard to do in the major stadiums in Thailand, even with another fight at a higher weight than usual for him against Kongsak Sitboonmee, which ended in a draw. He had gone as low as 119 lbs in that streak, so he faced an uphill battle against the bigger Penek. In the end, Penek was too much for Sam-A, who put up a valiant effort. Check out the video of the full fight.
