Schilling to Barrett: You're Not on My Level

  • Published in Interviews

Glory

Well folks, we are going to have some fireworks at GLORY 12 when GLORY 10 Middleweight Champion Joe Schilling steps into the ring with New York's own Wayne Barrett. Barrett has made a name for himself with his three big Kickboxing wins, but then again, those are his only three professional Kickboxing fights. Compare that to Joe Schilling, who has been around Kickboxing and Muay Thai for years now, completely dedicating himself to it. It makes sense that Schilling sees a fighter like Barrett and shakes his head. It's not that he's underestimating him as much as he wants to prove to the world that he is indeed the best in the world by showing Barrett just how new he is to the sport of Kickboxing.

This interview is from GLORY's site.

“Personally I don’t think he has the experience to be fighting me at this stage. He’s a big strong guy but he is no Artem Levin, you know what I mean? But I will train hard for it the same as any other dangerous fight,” he says.

“I’ve made the mistake of underestimating people in the past and I got caught out. There’s no easy fights in GLORY, he is big and strong and athletic. I take him seriously. But on paper I think I should win.”

Glory 18 Posters

  • Published in Glory

Today there have been two Glory 18 posters floating around the internet, neither of them have a location, and neither of them are on Glory's website, Twitter of Facebook. To me it still feels like we are one step closer to the next event, and by the match ups on the poster it seems to be a great one.

First if all it has Glory's lightweight champion Davit Kiria defending his belt against Robin Van Roosmalen also Wayne Barrett against Jason Wilnis for the single fights. There is also a light heavyweight contender tournament featuring Andre Stoica vs Saulo Cavalari and Brian Collette Vs Zak Mwekassa.

So far so good I'd say, now we just wait for the official announcement.

Adidas Signs GLORY Fighter Wayne Barrett to Sponsorship Deal

  • Published in Glory

GLORY competitor Wayne Barrett has been making a lot of waves since he joined the promotion in 2013, his kickboxing career has been on the rise and he's been one of the young American stars to be on the lookout for. He recently competed in GLORY's Last Man Standing tournament where he had a strong showing, defeating Bogdan Stoica before dropping a contested decision to rival Joe Schilling.

Barrett inks his first big sponsorship deal with American sports apparel brand adidas, with the future looking bright for the young athlete.

“When I started to fight, the biggest thing that drove me was being around those that have been through the fire and still stood tall. When adidas offered me to chance to be part of the family, I knew that this was a company that would stand by me as an athlete,” said Wayne “Afro Samurai” Barrett. “Remaking yourself and staying ahead of the competition is what a fighter has to do in order to be on top. adidas has long been a force behind the  world of combat sports and martial arts and continues to stay on top of its game. I plan on doing the same.”

Glory 18 Officially Announced

  • Published in Glory

Finally the silence is over and the time that most of us Kickboxing fans have been waiting for has arrived. Glory have officially announced Glory 18 at the Grand Casino Hotel and Resort in Oklahoma City on November 7th and will once again be Live on Spike TV. It's great to put all the rumors that have been circulating about Glory being finished to rest and now look forward and spread the word about their next event.

The main card is pretty much the same as we posted yesterday with the exception of Artem Vakhitov taking Andre Stoica's place in the tournament. I would have to say that Vakhitov would be the favourite to win the tournament based on what he has shown us in Glory so far. There will still be undercard fights to announce that I'm sure Glory will announce throughout the next little while. Now that Glory has done their job, we need to do ours as Kickboxing and Combat sports fans and make sure this event is packed and the ratings are high.

Here is the main card once again and the Link to the event.

On June 21st Wayne Barrett will do battle in the GLORY Last Man Standing tournament live on PPV. Barrett will be fighting Romanian sensation Bogdan Stoica in the first round of the Last Man Standing tournament, taking on the winner of Joe Schilling vs. Simon Marcus later that evening. Needless to say, this is the biggest night of Wayne Barrett's Kickboxing career by a long stretch. Phoenix Carnevale of Everything Martial Arts hit the gym with Wayne Barrett where he gives some insight into his training and mindset.

Definitely worth the watch.
